Jaipur -The Pink City
This place is a must visit vacation destination with family or friends during winters in INDIA.
Places you can see :
The Hawa Mahal , Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall Museum, Isarlat
These
four places can be covered in a single day. They issue a combined
ticket to visit these places (+ 2 forts), which is valid for two days
for INR 300
The
Hawa Mahal is a beautiful palace with around 900+ windows for the
queens to see the hustle bustle of the city. It was built by Maharaja
Jai Singh for his queens. Jantar Mantar is a must visit if you are a
science and geography enthusiast. The SunDial and the zodiacs are really
amazing to understand how in the ancient times they used to keep a note
of time.
The Isarlat
is a Tower built by Raja Ishwar Singh on defeating his cousin brother.
You can visit this for a complete view of the city. this tower looks
amazing at night.
The
City Palace - Abode of the Royals - is a private property and they
issue a separate ticket for the same . The current King still resides in
the palace
Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort
The Amer Fort and Nahargarh Fort can be visited with the same combined ticket issued by the government but Jaigarh fort
is again a privately maintained property and requires a separate ticket
of INR 100 each, but trust me this fort is worth a visit. The Amer fort
and Jaigarh have a hidden tunnel of 1.5 km which was discovered very
late by Mrs. Indira Gandhi. these two forts have an amazing history and
are abundantly huge. Amer fort has a Sheesh Mahal within the fort
which is beautiful and it has a picturesque Diwan-e-Khas built by Jai
singh. If time permits you can also visit the Panna Meena kund at a
walking distance in the Amer fort. It is a unique and hidden step well. Nahargarh fort has an amazing view of the city of Jaipur.
The largest cannon in the world resides in Jaigarh fort
Jaivan Cannon at Jaigarh fort
Advice : Visit Amer fort early in the morning for amazing pictures
Request : Do hire local guides for that is their only source of income and the pandemic has hit them hard
Jal Mahal
This
is a palace built in water. Visiting the palace from within is
prohibited. This can be visited while returning from the Forts
Birla Temple
Visit this if you have some extra time. This is a very peaceful place. Spend some time to rejuvenate yourself.
Best time to visit is evening sharp 5.30 pm . You can get to see the aarti and a beautiful sunset.
There are several other places you can visit but these are must visits.
Traveling across these places can be done in an auto or a car as per your convenience.
There
are several markets to shop along the Hawa mahal lane, yes they do
bargain a lot you need to have the skills :P. Do not fall prey to
autowaalas asking you to visit the Maharani Saree factory and leather
shops at Rs 50. It would be a waste of time
Well ,now comes the best part
